We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Outside Sales - West Coast Manager with expertise in medical device testing, specializing in biocompatibility, packaging, and microbiology testing services. This position is integral to driving growth and expanding TÜV SÜD’s footprint in the medical device testing market by building strong client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver value-driven solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in business development or sales within the medical device testing industry, a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, and a solid technical background in biocompatibility, packaging, and microbiology testing. With a strong focus on customer-centricity and market expansion, the candidate will be responsible for identifying and engaging with key clients, driving revenue growth, and supporting the company’s mission to provide high-quality testing services that enable safe and effective medical devices to reach global markets.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Market Development & Client Relationship Management

- Drive revenue by onboarding large multinational clients and SMEs for medical device testing services as well as cross and upselling opportunities.

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for medical device testing services in key target markets and identified accounts as agreed on with your manager.

- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales and revenue targets, ensuring alignment with TÜV SÜD’s overall business goals and product mix.

- Evaluate market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to inform and refine business development strategies.

- Act as the primary contact for prospective clients, delivering tailored presentations and proposals to meet their needs

- Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers at medical device manufacturers, contract development organizations (CDOs), and regulatory consultants.

Lead Generation and Pipeline Growth:

- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to meet quarterly and annual revenue targets.

- Proactively generate and qualify leads through networking, industry events, and targeted outreach.

- Manage the sales cycle from lead identification to deal closure, ensuring high client satisfaction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Partner with internal teams (testing, regulatory, and marketing) to ensure smooth execution of client projects and align offerings with market needs.

- Provide market feedback to support the development of new or enhanced testing services.

- Work closely with the sales team to ensure a seamless handoff of strategic accounts once your goals and targets have been achieved for continued customer support

- Collaborate with marketing to create targeted campaigns and materials for lead generation.

Event Participation and Networking:

- Represent TÜV SÜD at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote laboratory testing capabilities and build the company’s reputation as a leader in medical device testing.

- Stay updated on industry advancements, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualification

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical field is preferred.

- Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s or MBA) in relevant fields are an asset but not required.

Experience:

- A minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in sales or business development, with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets.

- Demonstrated expertise in medical device testing, particularly in biocompatibility, packaging, and microbiology testing services.

- Strong knowledge of ISO 10993, ISO 11607, and other relevant standards and regulatory requirements for medical device testing.

- Experience working with medical device manufacturers, regulatory agencies, or testing laboratories is highly desirable.

- Familiarity with strategic account management, consultative selling, and long sales cycles for technical services.

- Prior experience identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing a sales pipeline, and growing key accounts.
